Rosa's Legacy

A Quiet Farewell, and a Story Made by Hand

Hello, I’m Rosa. I’m grateful you are here, taking a moment to read this. Before I close the doors of Nonna’s Boutique, I wanted to share the story behind the work, the bags, and the little workshop that has meant so much to me.

Where My Story Started

My love for leather began when I was still young, watching my grandmother work with steady hands and a patient heart. She taught me that good work cannot be hurried. You have to listen to the material, respect every stitch, and only let something leave your hands when you know it is ready.

Years later, when I left Florence for America, I brought those lessons with me. My tools came in my luggage, but the real things I carried were her discipline, her pride, and the belief that a handmade piece should feel personal to the one who owns it.

Through the years, I have made bags for women whose names I may never know, but whose lives I often imagined. I pictured them carrying a bag to work, on a trip, through a busy morning, or during a quiet ordinary day. Knowing my work became part of those moments has been one of the greatest gifts of my life.

Choosing More Thoughtful Materials

As time went on, I began to think more carefully about the materials I used and the kind of legacy I wanted my final work to leave behind. Classic leather will always be part of my craft, but I also wanted to offer something new for those who were looking for a gentler choice.

That is why I started working with premium vegan leather made from upcycled plant-based materials. I wanted a material that still felt beautiful, strong, and lasting, while carrying a little more kindness for the world around us.

For those who love tradition, some Classic Leather pieces are still available. For those ready for something different, the newer vegan designs are here as well. Both are made with the same care, patience, and respect for the person who will carry them.

Why This Change Means Something

Some changes come quietly. This one did. I did not want to end my journey only by looking back. I wanted my final collections to hold both where I came from and where I believe we can go.

To me, this is not just about choosing one material over another. It is about care. Care for the craft, care for the customer, and care for the future we leave behind.

The Way I Make Each Bag

  • Small Batches. I only make a limited number of pieces, so every bag has purpose and nothing is made simply to fill a shelf.
  • Made for Everyday Life. Each bag is designed to be useful, lasting, and beautiful enough to become part of your routine.
  • Finished with Care. Every cut, seam, and detail is checked by hand before I feel ready to send it out.

Closing the Workshop

As I prepare to step away from my worktable, I feel many things at once. There is sadness, of course, because this little workshop has held so much of my life. I will miss the quiet rhythm of the day, the feel of the materials, and the small joy of seeing a finished bag in front of me.

But more than anything, I feel thankful. Thankful for the people who trusted my hands, for every message, every order, and every story that came back to me over the years.

Thank You

Thank you for being part of this final chapter. Whether you have carried one of my bags for years or are only now discovering my work, I am grateful you are here.

If one of these last pieces becomes yours, I hope it brings you the same quiet joy I felt while making it. I hope it reminds you that things made with patience can carry meaning far beyond the day they are bought.

With warm regards,

Rosa
